Historic Turkish baths in city centre are finally set to reopen more than four years after they closed suddenly.

It came as the council announced the pool and Turkish baths would be shut for 18 months from April for renovation work costing £6.5m – phase one of the council’s plans for the building.

The Turkish baths, which first opened in 1909, their doors on November 12, 2022 after executive members of the former Carlisle City Council voted to close them.
